MACON — The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a person down on Mercer University Drive at its intersection with Burton Avenue last night.
The incident was called in at around 10:54 p.m.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered that a male pedestrian was reported to have been struck by an unknown vehicle.
The victim, 65-year- old Larry Simmons, was taken to the Atrium Health Navicent by ambulance. Simmons was later pronounced dead.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is reaching out to the public for any information regarding this incident.
