(The Center Square) – Georgia's interstate system congestion and vehicle travel rate are among the highest in the U.S., a recent report shows. According to a National Transportation Research Group (TRIP) report published in late June, 57% of urban interstate highways in Georgia are considered congested during peak hours, the 12th-highest in the U.S. Georgia also has the 13th-highest rate of daily interstate travel per urban lane-mile, the report showed. A 24-year-old Cumming man is dead after an afternoon motorcycle crash in Forsyth County Saturday. Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department were dispatched to the area of Buford Dam Road and Timber Lake Trail in reference to a collision between a SUV and a motorcycle at about 2:36 p.m. According to the sheriff's office, preliminary investigation, indicates a 2017 Buick Enclave and was traveling east on Buford Dam Road with a 2013 Yamaha FZ8 behind it. Two transportation projects designed to improve traffic flow in the Perimeter Market near I-285 were recently completed, according to the Central DeKalb Perimeter Improvement District. In February, the PCID Board approved $268,400 in funding for the projects, located in Dunwoody and Brookhaven.  Traffic is picking up in Georgia as the coronavirus pandemic wanes, and it’s reflected in new revenue projections for the state’s toll lanes. The State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) expects to generate $39.5 million from tolls during the fiscal year starting July 1. DUNWOODY -- An 82-year-old Dunwoody man is dead after being hit by a car at the intersection of Vermack Road and Parliament Drive. On June 16 at 5:39 p.m., Dunwoody Police officers and DeKalb County Fire Rescue were dispatched to a person struck by an automobile call. Officers arrived minutes later and found a pedestrian unresponsive on the ground. Dunwoody officers and bystanders began life-saving measures prior to the arrival of DeKalb County Fire Rescue.
