Motorists traveling on Highway 9 in Alpharetta this weekend can expect heavy delays this weekend due to a road widening project. Road crews will be continuing a project to widen and reconstruct the roadway between Upper Hembree Road and Windward Parkway, a distance of almost four miles. Eastside Drive, between Pleasant Wood Drive and Wesley Chapel Road, will be closed to through-traffic from 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, to repair a 24-inch natural gas transmission pipeline between 4205 and 4265 Eastside Drive in Decatur. Road closure and detour signs will be placed in the area during the road closure period advising motorists of construction work in the area and of local traffic restrictions. CORNELIA -- Habersham County will be placing a road detour for Chase Road located in Cornelia. This detour will be in place from September 20, at 8 a.m. until September 24 at 5 p.m., weather permitting.  This detour is needed to replace two failing cross-drain pipes. The area of Chase Road not highlighted in yellow will only be accessible to local traffic. Motorists traveling on I-85 will experience overnight lane closures this weekend as part of a project to replace pavement markings on I-85 from its Brookwood split interchange with I-75 in Fulton County to just north of SR 155/Clairmont Road in DeKalb County. An 85-year-old Ball Ground man died in a crash when the man's Kia and a semi-truck on Matt Highway in Forsyth County. The crash occurred at about 8:38 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection Matt Highway and Old Federal Road. PEACHTREE CITY -- Police in Peachtree City are investigating a collision between a car and a bicycle that occurred on Peachtree Parkway in the area of Fischers Luck just after 6:30 this morning.
