Dunwoody police search for suspect in armed robbery

The Dunwoody Police Department is investigating a report of an Armed Robbery that occurred in the area of Withmere Way and Withmere Lane June 15. According to the victim in the case, a male suspect got out of a gold older model van and grabbed her near the intersection. The victim said the suspect then demanded she hand over her money and threatened to cut her with a knife if she did not comply. The victim was not injured during the incident. A Georgia sex offender who was released from jail is now missing

Gwinnett County police detectives are searching for a sex offender who was released from jail, May 17 but who failed to register as a sex offender upon leaving prison. Andrew Wesley Dix's family says they never heard from him after he was released, and reported him as missing. According to family members he has some mental health conditions that may cause him to act erratically. Police are also searching for Dix because he has an outstanding warrant for failure to register as a sex offender upon his release. Police are searching for two suspects who allegedly used a stolen credit card in Lawrenceville and Alpharetta. According to Gwinnett Police, the window of the victim's vehicle was smashed late last month while it was parked in a church parking lot. The victim's purse was stolen and shortly after the theft, the victim's credit card was used at two Lawrenceville Kroger stores. The first suspect was caught on video at the time the card was used. A Central State Prison inmate will serve three additional years after prison officials say they caught him using an unauthorized cell phone to video chat with a 13-year old girl. 47-year-old Robert Lewis Gunn was already serving a 20-year prison sentence that began in 2008 for child molestation and sexual battery convictions. According to Bibb County prosecutors, an adult observed a 13-year-old girl video chatting Gunn on a cell phone and later found screen shots of video chats on the phone that included sexual images of the inmate. Gwinnett Police have identified the suspect in an attempted burglary at a church last week. Anthony Dean Scoggins Jr., of Grayson was taken into custody and police say he has been linked to other thefts in the recent months. According to police, on May 10 Scoggins drove into the parking lot of Grafted Church at 2149 Five Forks Trickum Road in near Lawrenceville. Roswell Police are searching for a 38-year-old man they say is wanted in connection with an animal cruelty case they investigated Wednesdays. When police arrived at the Studio 6 Motel in Roswell, they rescued an emaciated dog that was locked in a plastic container with no access to food and water. Gwinnett police detectives need your help identifying two suspects in a theft and credit card fraud case.  On March 15, the victim’s credit cards were stolen from his locker at his gym on Buford Drive unbeknownst to him. A Bibb County convenience store clerk stopped a robbery, but paid a high price in the process. According to the Bibb County Sheriff's Department, the clerk, Nirmal Prashant was opening the Hillcrest Ave., Hornet store at about 7 a.m. Friday when two men approached him and grabbed him from behind. Macon woman charged with inflicting string of injuries on a child

A grand jury indicted a Macon woman Tuesday on four counts of cruelty to children. According to court documents, 39-year-old Latonya Demetria Stephens caused a traumatic brain injury to the child along with broken ribs and burns to the skin. She is also accused of depriving the child of food. The incident took place Sept. 1 of last year. Now that the grand jury has indicted Stephens, the case will move to trial.
