Meet Dunwoody's newest city council member

DUNWOODY — The Dunwoody City Council unanimously approved the nomination of Villard “Ardy” Bastien to fill the unexpired term of Pam Tallmadge in City Council Post 1. He was nominated to the position by Mayor Lynn Deutsch and was seated immediately after being sworn in by DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Stacey Hydrick.

“This appointment is an honor and privilege,” Council Member Bastien said. “I enjoy public service and look forward to taking on the additional role of representing the people.”

Council Member Bastien is a Senior Partner with the Law Offices of Villard Bastien, LLC. He was appointed to Dunwoody’s first Zoning Board of Appeals in 2009 and has served continuously, including as Chair, since then. He gives back to the community as a member of the Dunwoody Rotary and Dunwoody Perimeter Chamber. He also served as Secretary to the Board of the Community Assistance Center of Sandy Springs and Dunwoody.

“I so appreciate Ardy Bastien stepping up to serve as a member of the Dunwoody City Council,” said Mayor Deutsch. “His ample experience working in city leadership and deep involvement in the Dunwoody community make him the perfect fit for the role.”

Council Member Bastien will serve until a new Council Member takes office in January 2022. The election for the Post 1 is scheduled for November 2, 2021. Former Council Member Tallmadge resigned in July due to a move that took her out of Dunwoody. Council Member Bastien will step down from his role on the ZBA as the result of his Council appointment.
