Georgia Department of Transportation contractors will install weekend lane closures on I-285 to continue a resurfacing project on 1.5 miles between Snapfinger Road and Rainbow Drive in DeKalb County. This resurfacing project will improve the condition of the deteriorating roadway.
Weather and on-site conditions permitting, two right lanes and the right shoulder lane will be closed on I-285 southbound between its intersection with I-20 and Snapfinger Road from 9 p.m. on Friday, July 15 until 5 a.m. on Monday morning.
In addition, the I-20 eastbound entrance ramp to, and the exit ramp from, I-285 southbound will be closed.
On-site signage and message boards will alert drivers of the closures in advance and detour traffic around the closures.
This $3.8 M project is scheduled for completion in fall 2022.
GDOT is advising to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through the work zone during the project work hours.
