Turtles stolen from Autrey Mill Nature Preserve

JOHNS CREEK — Autrey Mill Nature Preserve in Johns Creek is asking for your help finding five box turtles that were stolen from the preserve over the weekend.

The five box turtles were stolen out of their enclosure. If you have any information or know anything, please call the nature preserve at 678-366-3511.

According to nature preserve officials, the box turtles have all been raised in captivity and are very unlikely to survive in the wild.

Box turtles are illegal to keep as pets in the state of Georgia and Autrey Mill has a special permit to keep the turtles to educate the public about the importance of wildlife conservation.

The nature preserve posted this video below of three teenagers they believe are suspects in the turtle theft.

The teens were last seen on camera taking the five turtles out of their enclosure and away from Autrey Mill.

If you have any information regarding their identity, contact Johns Creek Police Investigator R. Bucki at 678-474-1579 or rbucki@johnscreekga.gov.

The man in the red shirt is a volunteer who was feeding our chickens at the time and is not a suspect.

The missing turtles are pictured below:
