An escaped state inmate is back in custody after he walked away from a work detail in Temple on Tuesday.
What It Means For You: David Emsley Wheeles is no longer a threat to the community after being found and arrested without incident in the Villa Rosa Road area.
What Happened: Wheeles walked off his work detail Monday and was captured this morning near where he escaped. He now faces a felony escape charge on top of his original sentence.
Who Caught Him: The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office worked with the state prison system, emergency management, the U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force, and other local agencies to find and arrest Wheeles.
