Hall County residents are urged to prepare for dangerously cold temperatures as North Georgia braces for freezing weather. County officials are opening community centers to help residents stay warm during the cold snap.
What’s Happening: Hall County officials announced three community centers will serve as temporary warming locations for residents seeking shelter from freezing temperatures. These centers will operate during regular business hours, but overnight accommodations will not be available.
When and Where: The community centers will be open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The locations include:
- East Hall Community Center: 3911 P Davidson Road, Gainesville, Georgia, 678-450-1540.
- Mulberry Creek Community Center: 4491 JM Turk Road, Flowery Branch, Georgia, 770-965-7140.
- North Hall Community Center: 4175 Nopone Road, Gainesville, Georgia, 770-535-8280.
For overnight shelter, Good News at Noon Gainesville, located at 881 Dorsey Street, will be open from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. as space allows.
Why It Matters: With temperatures expected to drop below freezing, the risk of hypothermia and other cold-related health issues rises, especially for vulnerable groups. Officials encourage residents to take advantage of the warming centers and avoid exposure to extreme cold.
