MACON — Two people have been injured in a crash in Bibb County, Georgia.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office reported that the crash occurred on Burton Avenue, just south of the Winifred Way intersection, at about 3:55 p.m. Wednesday.
According to witnesses, a 2003 Nissan Altima traveling north on Burton Ave. veered into the opposite lane of oncoming traffic and collided with a 2016 Dodge Ram 3500 traveling south on the two-lane road. The Dodge Ram was equipped with a trailer hitch, hauling construction equipment.
The Nissan Altima was occupied by a 28-year-old male driver, a 26-year-old female passenger, and two small children who were in the rear seat. The driver and front passenger suffered severe injuries and were taken to Atrium Navicent Healthcare for medical treatment.
The children were unharmed.
The Dodge Ram was occupied by a 26-year-old male driver and a 20-year-old male passenger, both of whom were unharmed.
The driver of the Nissan Altima is listed in critical condition, while the female passenger is in stable condition. The children were released to the care of their family.
The crash is still under investigation, and the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information to call 478-751-7500.
