A man walking across Canton Road on Friday night was struck by an SUV and later died at the hospital, according to Cobb County police.
The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. just north of Jamerson Road. Police said the man was walking across the road outside of a marked crosswalk when he entered the path of a northbound Mercedes-Benz GLE.
The SUV was driven by a 42-year-old man from Woodstock with two children as passengers. None of the vehicle’s occupants were injured.
The pedestrian was rushed to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital by ambulance but did not survive. Authorities are still working to identify him and contact his family.
