Argument leads to gunfire on Macon street

Officials say gunfire was exchanged between the occupants of the silver sedan and one of the men who was walking. Four of the men who were involved in the incident were reported to have been shot.

MACON — The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an aggravated assault that took place in the 300 block of Cherry Street.

The incident was called into the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at around 2:35 a.m.

According to the sheriff’s office, several men were arguing, prior to the incident. The men who were arguing went in separate directions. Several of the men walked to their vehicle that was parked near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Cherry Street, when a silver sedan drove by.

Officials say gunfire was exchanged between the occupants of the silver sedan and one of the men who was walking. Four of the men who were involved in the incident were reported to have been shot.

The men were taken to the Piedmont hospital, by personal vehicle.

Three of the men were later transferred to Atrium Health Navicent. All four of the men are currently listed to be in stable condition.  

This incident is under investigation. Additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
