The city started repaving 33 streets across Roswell this week, using a data-driven system that targets the roads in worst shape first.
🚧 What’s Happening: Crews began work Monday on nearly 207,000 square yards of roadway, funded by $1 million in state grants and $3 million from the city’s capital budget.
The city uses something called the Pavement Condition Index to decide which streets get fixed first. It’s a national rating system that scores roads based on cracks, potholes, weathering, and old repairs. The worse the score, the higher the priority.
Subdivision streets often get grouped together to stretch the pavement’s lifespan and make the work more efficient.
📋 Catch Up Quick: City leaders approved this year’s resurfacing list back in January, after first presenting it to council committees in December.
The program has become one of the most visible ways Roswell spends taxpayer money on infrastructure — the kind of work residents notice every time they back out of the driveway.
🔍 What They’re Saying: “Roadway maintenance is one of the most visible and impactful services we provide as a City,” Mayor Kurt Wilson said. “Our residents deserve safe, reliable streets, and through careful planning and budgeting, we are continuing to deliver on that promise.”
