MILLEDGEVILLE — The City of Milledgeville’s Water and Sewer Department has issued a Boil Water Advisory for of 127 Blandy Rd., Meriweather Circle, Pine Lane Drive, and Stevens Drive. This advisory comes as a result of a water main break that has caused a significant drop in water pressure in these areas.

The Potential Health Hazard

The reduction in water pressure may lead to a potential health hazard within the affected areas. The concern is the possibility of backflow and/or back-siphonage of water of unknown quality into the water distribution system. To ensure the safety of the public, the Water and Sewer Department is advising all residents who have experienced water outages or low water pressure to boil any water they intend to use for drinking, cooking, or preparing baby food.

Safety Precautions

Residents should bring the water to a rolling boil for a minimum of one minute before using it. This process ensures that any potential contaminants are effectively eliminated. The Water and Sewer Department emphasizes that residents should continue boiling their water until they receive official notification from the water utility confirming that the water system has been fully restored and that the water is safe for consumption by humans.
