BROOKHAVEN — Brookhaven Parks and Recreation Department invites pooches to make a splash this summer at its annual Doggy Dip Day. Due to the event’s popularity, there will be two available dates to register for the event.

The event takes place at Murphey Candler Pool, located along Candler Lake W NE, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 25 and 26, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Participants are required to register in advance online. Only two humans per dog are allowed.

Dog owners will only be allowed to wade into the pools up to their knees, and lifeguards will be present.

Cost is $15 per dog for three-hour time slots. Participants are allowed to sign up for both days, but will need to pay $15 for each day. All dogs must be up-to-date on required shots and vaccinations.

Small dogs and large dogs will have separate times to enjoy the pool:

Saturday, Sept. 25:

  • Small dogs 10 a.m-1 p.m
  • Large dogs 1:30 p.m-4:30 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 26:

  • Large dogs 10 a.m-1 p.m
  • Small dogs 1:30 p.m-4:30 p.m.

“Doggy Dip Day is a wonderful Brookhaven tradition, and we invite everyone to bring their pooches for a splash in the pool,” said Parks and Recreation Director Brian Borden.

Murphey Candler Park is at 1551 W. Nancy Creek Drive.
