The Roswell Police Department, in partnership with the Georgia State Patrol, is investigating a fatal crash on Holcomb Bridge Road in east Roswell.
Early Sunday morning, Officers with the Roswell Police Department received an alert from the Alpharetta Police Department to be on the lookout for a group of vehicles traveling together and engaging in reckless driving behavior. A Roswell Police Officer on active patrol located the group traveling eastbound on Holcomb Bridge Road shortly after midnight.
At the intersection with Ga. 400 the officer witnessed one vehicle, an Infiniti G37, laying drag. The officer activated his sirens to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle.
According to the Roswell Police Department, the vehicle immediately fled from the officer, and continued eastbound at a high rate of speed. The officer initiated a pursuit with the vehicle which was terminated in the area of Holcomb Bridge Road and Calibre Creek Parkway.
The fleeing vehicle continued eastbound at a high rate of speed.
Shortly thereafter, responding officers located the vehicle crashed in the area of Holcomb Bridge Road and Scott Road. Two occupants, a male and female had been ejected from the vehicle. Both occupants were transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where the male died from his injuries. Police are not releasing his identity at this time pending notification of next of kin.
Two additional occupants were witnessed exiting the wrecked vehicle under their own power, before getting into another vehicle, which immediately fled the scene as well.
The Roswell Police Department contacted Georgia State Patrol, and their Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team responded to investigate.
