A six-month-old baby was found dead in a trash bag behind a Clayton County home after his father made up a story about a robbery and kidnapping.
Cause of Death: Antonio Pearce and Necollete Pratt now face serious criminal charges after their son Nnakai died from blunt force trauma.
What’s Happening: Police found the baby’s body on Oct. 14 in the backyard of a home on Green Valley Road. The child had been missing for three days after his father called police, claiming armed robbers took his son from an apartment complex on Valley Hill Road in Riverdale.
Between the Lines: Pearce told officers he was robbed at a “stash house” where he kept three pounds of marijuana and more than $6,000 in cash. He said the robbers took his son from a car seat carrier. Police caught him in multiple lies during questioning.
Catch Up Quick: Both parents appeared in court Friday. Pearce faces nine charges including malice murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence, and concealing a death. Pratt faces five charges including first-degree cruelty to children, concealing a death, and making false statements.
The Sources: Clayton County Police Department.
