A Marietta man died after being hit by a car on Terrell Mill Road Monday night. Police say the driver left the scene but was later arrested at his home.
What’s Happening: A 36-year-old man from Marietta was crossing Terrell Mill Road outside of a marked crosswalk around 7:12 p.m. on Monday, October 20, when a gray 2014 Ford Escape hit him, according to the Cobb County Police Department.
- The driver fled the scene after the crash.
- The man was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with life-threatening injuries and died there.
What’s Important: Police found and arrested a 28-year-old Marietta man at his home. He faces charges of felony hit-and-run, driving while license suspended, and center turn lane violation.
Between the Lines: The crash happened on Terrell Mill Road north of Bentley Road. Police say the Ford Escape was traveling southbound in the center turn lane when the pedestrian entered the roadway and was struck in that lane.
What Happens Next: The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Unit continues to investigate the crash. Police are asking anyone with information to call 770-499-3987.
