Over 200 Faith Leaders Unite to Stop Cop City

A coalition of over 200 faith leaders will gather at Atlanta City Hall on Monday to express their opposition to the proposed construction of “Cop City” in the South River Forest.

The Faith Coalition to Stop Cop City is calling for a complete stop to the Cop City project and the cancellation of the Atlanta Police Foundation’s lease. They are also demanding an independent investigation into the usage of domestic terrorism charges against forest defenders and protestors.

This issue has been causing a stir in the community, with charges against forest defenders and protestors stirring fear among activists and community leaders.

The faith leaders are also demanding an independent investigation into the killing of Manuel Teran, “Tortuguita.”

The Faith Coalition to Stop Cop City has a full schedule of events planned for Monday. They will host a press conference at noon on the back side of Atlanta City Hall at 68 Mitchell St SW, followed by a processional march to the front of City Hall, where they will attend the Atlanta City Council meeting to deliver at least 200 signed letters from faith leaders expressing their moral stance against the construction of Cop City.
