DUNWOODY — The City of Dunwoody Parks and Recreation Department will hold its annual Memorial Day Ceremony at 10 a.m. on May 30 at the Brook Run Park Veterans Memorial at 4770 N. Peachtree Road.

The ceremony is open to the public and co-hosted by Dunwoody’s Veteran Events Planning Committee.

“I’m grateful for this important Dunwoody tradition, which gives us a chance to gather to honor and remember those who sacrificed their lives for their country and our freedom,” said Dunwoody Mayor Lynn Deutsch. “I always look forward to the message, music and remembrances.”

Charlissa Culp, a 10-year veteran of the United States Navy, will serve as the keynote speaker. During her service, she spent five years as an aviation electronics technician and another five years in human resources. Her responsibilities included drug operations and submarine warfare.

During the ceremony, the Pledge of Allegiance will be led by Deutsch. Dunwoody Police Deputy Chief Michael Carlson, retired Georgia National Guard Captain, will introduce a moment of silence. Rev. Daniel Rogaczewski, Parochial Vicar of All Saints Catholic Church, will give the Invocation and Benediction.

The veteran events planning committee serves as an independent group that works in tandem with Dunwoody Parks and Recreation to present the Memorial and Veterans Day events. The organizing committee members include veterans, active military, and representatives from leading community organizations. This is a rain-or-shine event that is open to all.
