Movies in the Moonlight returns to Brookhaven

BROOKHAVEN -- The Brookhaven Parks and Recreation Department is bringing some outdoor fun to the city’s parks in September and October with the return of its Movies in the Moonlight series.

BROOKHAVEN — The Brookhaven Parks and Recreation Department is bringing some outdoor fun to the city’s parks in September and October with the return of its Movies in the Moonlight series.

First up is a Dive-In Movie featuring Raya and the Last Dragon slated for Friday, Sept. 3, at Briarwood Park pool, 2235 Briarwood Way at 8:30 p.m. This Disney film tells the tale of a lone warrior’s quest to save the last dragon in the world and is rated PG.

On Friday, Sept. 24, a Movie in the Moonlight will be held at the Peachtree Creek Greenway for the first time. Moviegoers will watch Soul in Spanish with English subtitles at 8:30 p.m.

The event will take place at the Corporate Plaza Bridge Green Space on the Peachtree Creek Greenway, 3 Corporate Boulevard NE. Soul is an uplifting Disney/Pixar movie about a music school teacher/jazz musician who seeks to reunite his soul and body after they are separated and is rated PG.

Cruella is the next Movie in the Moonlight, taking place Friday, Oct. 15, at Skyland Park, 2600 Skyland Drive at 8:30 p.m.Disney’s Cruella is about the early days of one of the most infamous villains in cinematic history and is rated PG-13.

“We welcome everyone to enjoy this year’s Movies in the Moonlight series and are especially excited about the Peachtree Creek Greenway event, which will be our first film screening at this location,” said Parks and Recreation Director Brian Borden.

The pool will open for the Dive-In Movie after 7 p.m. and pool admission is free. Movies in the Moonlight are free of charge and guests can bring lawn chairs and blankets. Limited concessions will be available for purchase, and guests may bring along their own snacks to enjoy. Pets are welcome in the parks, but not in the pool area.
