TYBEE ISLAND — Georgia Department of Transportation nighttime lane closures on US 80 at Bull River Bridge will begin tonight. The work will eventually move to Lazaretto Creek Bridge as contractors performs core penetration tests into the marsh bottom.
The lane closures are scheduled between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. nightly in a 10 night on and four night off schedule with an anticipated completion on December 22.
No work is scheduled during upcoming holiday weeks of November 23 through the 29 and December 23 through January 4, 2021. If unforeseen delays occur, work will resume January 5, 2021.
GDOT is advising drivers to watch for advance warning signs and obey road crew flaggers. Law enforcement will assist with traffic control to enhance safety.
This is preliminary work for the future US 80 two bridge replacement project.
