More than 5,000 people in Georgia have been confirmed to have coronavirus as of noon April 2. The exact number of cases reported is 5,348, up from 4,638 at noon yesterday.

As of the Georgia Department of Public Health’s noon status update, the state also passed another milestone — the number of people hospitalized from coronavirus in Georgia is 1,056. According to the latest round of reporting, 19.75% of confirmed cases end up hospitalized. Georgia’s death toll is now 163, bringing the death rate from the virus to 3.05%.

Dougherty County has had the most people die from the virus. Dougherty’s death toll is 29 out of 507 total cases. Fulton County leads the state in cases at 712, but not in deaths, which are at 22.
