Three men impersonating police officers rob Atlanta spa

ATLANTA — A trio of men impersonated law enforcement officers during an armed robbery at Spring Spa, in Northeast Atlanta.

The suspects are still at large, and the Atlanta Police Department’s Robbery Unit is seeking your help in identifying them.

Spring Spa, at 1996 Manchester St. NE, became an unlikely crime scene at about 9:30 p.m. on July 27, when the three suspects, identified by witnesses as being one Hispanic and two black males, entered the establishment.

One of the suspects flashed a badge and firearm, posing as law enforcement, which led to the victims being corralled in a room while the criminals searched the premises.

As the ordeal unfolded, the victims were kept in confinement for an estimated 40 minutes. After thoroughly scouring the business, the suspects were able to abscond with $400 in cash.

According to the business manager, the suspect of Hispanic descent initially inquired about the cost of a massage and then returned with a fake badge, proclaiming that he was an investigator and the store was under investigation.

He subsequently summoned the two black males into the establishment via walkie-talkie. One of these men was observed with a firearm on his hip by another employee, though police say he did not wield the weapon during the incident.

Fortunately, the spa had an operational camera capturing the entrance of the store. The footage and images procured from this device have been made part of the ongoing investigation.

Detective Gurley of the Atlanta Police Department’s Robbery Unit is now heading the case. He urges anyone with information related to the incident to contact him at 470-808-4426. Anonymous tips can be submitted to the Crime Stoppers Atlanta tip line at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or online at www.StopCrimeAtl.org.
