JOHNS CREEK — Streets in six Johns Creek neighborhoods and five main roads are set to be repaved this year as part of Johns Creek’s eighth year of repaving the city’s neighborhood streets.

The following neighborhoods are scheduled for repaving this year:

  • Spring Garden
  • Lakehill
  • Creekside Crossing
  • Medlock Bridge
  • Bridgestone
  • Parsons Station

The schedule also includes repaving these main roads:

  • McGinnis Ferry (Chattahoochee River to Bell Road)
  • East Fox Court (Jones Bridge Road to the City limits)
  • State Bridge Road (Medlock Bridge Road to River Park Drive)
  • Brumbelow Road (Old Alabama Road to Nesbit Ferry Road)
  • Abberly Cove (servicing Morton Road Park)

In 2021, the city resurfaced 17 miles of streets in 11 neighborhoods. Crews also paved State Bridge Road from Jones Bridge Road to Johns Creek High School, corrected a sight distance issue for motorists at the Buice Road at Spruill Road intersection, and the Shakerag Park track.

In 2018, a consultant drove a specially-equipped vehicle down each of Johns Creek’s streets to gauge their conditions. Using that data as a guide, the Public Works staff developed a repaving plan for the city’s subdivisions.

The physical survey of city streets revealed many had a substandard Pavement Quality Index, a scale developed by the Corps of Engineers to measure cracking, potholes, rutting, weathering and other factors. Low index scores reflect poor condition of pavement. The lower the index score, the higher the ranking when scheduling the repaving.
