State Officials Say “Don’t go out.”
Georgia’s Emergency Management department has a simple message for Georgian’s today as the state grapples with the aftermath of Hurricane Zeta. “Don’t go out today if you don’t have to.”
The department is asking residents to monitor local news outlets and listen to guidance from local officials.
Atlanta: Call centers overwhelmed
The city of Atlanta reports that call volumes for 911 and 311 are high due to people reporting damage from Hurricane Zeta.
The majority of the calls involve traffic signal repairs and downed trees. City officials are reminding residents to call 911 for emergencies and 311 for non-emergencies.
Life threatening emergencies are the top priority.
Cherokee County: Downed Tree kills man
A Cherokee County man died after a tree fell on his mobile home while he was asleep in his bed. This is the first report of a death in Georgia from the storm.
Fulton County: Election Sites Lose Power
Fulton County is reporting several voting locations that are without power due to Hurricane Zeta. As of noon, the following polling locations were reporting power outages:

Forsyth County: Power Outages
According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, power outages in the county have taken out several traffic lights.
Sheriff’s officials are reminding motorists to treat intersections with non-functioning traffic lights as four-way stops. The sheriff’s office has also added 40 extra deputies to the roads.
Motorists are advised to stay at home if at all possible.
Norcross: Power Outages
Norcross officials are reporting several power outages, however they do note that Early Voting continues in the city, despite issues related to Hurricane Zeta.
Fairburn: Massive Tree Falls
The Fairburn Fire Dept. is reporting a massive tree is down at East Campbellton Street and Green Street. Motorists are advised to take an alternative route.
