A fatal collision on Hawkins Store Road left one Marietta man dead and another driver injured on the evening of Dec. 12, according to Cobb County Police.

A fatal collision on Hawkins Store Road left one Marietta man dead and another driver injured on the evening of Dec. 12, according to Cobb County Police.

What Happened:

• The crash occurred at approximately 6:57 p.m. near the intersection of Hawkins Store Road and Farmbrook Lane.

• A white 2006 Toyota Tundra was traveling westbound when it veered partially onto the raised curb and sidewalk. Police say the driver overcorrected, crossing into the eastbound lane and striking a white 1997 Ford F-250 head-on.

• The Toyota’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has been confirmed, and his family has been notified.

• The driver of the Ford sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

More Details: Police say the Toyota came to rest in the eastbound lane after the collision, while its truck bed was in the westbound lane. The Ford remained in the eastbound lane.
