Georgia’s battle with coronavirus took a deadly turn Saturday as the Georgia Department of Health reported 10 deaths since noon, bringing the state’s total number of coronavirus deaths to 79.
In total, Georgia has had 14 new deaths reported in 24 hours.
Four of the new deaths reported Saturday evening came from Dougherty County, which has become a hotspot for the virus after it spread through two highly attended funerals in Albany.
Georgia’s death rate, which had dipped below 3% at noon, is now back over that number and stands at 3.2% The total number of cases in Georgia is now 2,446 with 660 people hospitalized.
