๐Ÿ” The Details: On April 5, Esperanza Marisol Chacon, 50, of Norcross, reported to police that she was robbed at gunpoint while closing her business at 1461 Pirkle Road. She claimed that a man forced her back inside the business around 1 a.m. and stole money from the cash register.

Gwinnett County Police detectives, after reviewing surveillance footage and conducting interviews, identified and arrested 55-year-old David Cruz Galeano of Jonesboro on April 15.

According to police, further investigation revealed that Chacon and Galeano had collaborated to fabricate the entire incident.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ Why It Matters: False reporting not only undermines trust between the community and law enforcement but also strains police resources. The arrests serve as a reminder of the consequences of such actions and the importance of integrity in reporting incidents to authorities.
