ROSWELL — The Roswell Police Department today announced the arrest or charging of 12 suspects involved in an intersection takeover event on Easter Sunday.

On April 17 around 7 p.m., Roswell Officers responded to the area of Houze Rd. and Rucker Rd. after receiving reports of vehicles doing reckless driving stunts in the intersection.

The first arriving officer had her patrol SUV surrounded by spectators and participants on foot, some of whom kicked the vehicle, causing damage. Several suspects were stopped by responding officers and charged immediately, but many others fled the scene.

Through a collaborative investigation involving the RPD Traffic Enforcement Unit, local law enforcement partners, and the community as a whole, 12 suspects have been charged for their involvement in the intersection takeover thus far.

“These arrests send a clear message, not just from the Roswell Police Department but from our communities as well: reckless and stunt driving in our cities won’t be tolerated,” said Police Chief James Conroy. “RPD has gathered a wealth of video and photographic evidence, both from our own investigator’s diligent work and the public, all of which we’ve shared with our neighboring jurisdictions for additional charges where applicable.”

Only one of the people charged in connection with the incident was actually from Roswell, with other participants coming from as far as Sugar Hill, Lawrenceville and Bethlehem.

Anyone with additional information about this incident or the whereabouts of outstanding suspect Jhoan Castro-Delgado is asked to contact the Roswell Police Traffic Enforcement Unit at 770-640-4100 or TrafficEnforcement@roswellgov.com. Anonymous information can be provided through Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS(8477) or online at www.StopCrimeATL.org.
