A 50-year-old man died from a gunshot wound to the head in his white Jeep Wrangler on Cherry Street in Bibb County just after midnight Friday.

A 50-year-old man died from a gunshot wound to the head in his white Jeep Wrangler on Cherry Street in Bibb County just after midnight Friday.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Cherry Street near Second Street, at 12:20 a.m. regarding a person shot.

According to deputies, the man was shot in the head in white Jeep Wrangler. Deputies arrived on scene at Cherry Street near Second Street and located a 50-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head. A pistol was found next to the victim in the vehicle.

The victim was transported to the Atrium Health Navicent where he was pronounced dead. No one else was injured during the incident.

According to sheriff’s department officials, there was a 57-year-old woman in the vehicle with the victim at the time of the incident. The woman was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigations Office for questioning.

No charges have been filed at this time. There is no information on what lead up to the shooting or how it happened at this time.The incident is still being investigated.
