Augusta Fire and Emergency Management Chief Chris James announced today that the city’s fire department will host a ceremony to mark the 17th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States. The Judicial Council of Georgia Standing Committee on Judicial Workload Assessment presented the Rockdale County Magistrate Court with a 2018 Judicial Clearance Rate Excellence Award after the completion of a three-year clearance rate study of all Georgia courts from 2015 through 2017. Only the top 10 percentile of courts from each class were recipients of the award. Rockdale’s Magistrate Court ranked fifth out of 159 Magistrate Courts, with a clearance rate of 107.1 percent of its caseload.

U.S. Term Limits, the leader in the national, non-partisan movement to limit terms for elected officials, is gathering support from state lawmakers across the nation. Its mission is to get 34 states to apply for an amendment proposal convention specific to term limits on Congress. Georgia state house candidate Essence Johnson, district 45, has committed support for term limits on Congress by signing the Term Limits Convention pledge.

Telephone-based mass notifications systems are used by thousands of public safety agencies across the U.S. to warn citizens about local emergencies, hazards and other threats. Gordon County announces that they have selected Hyper-Reach to help bring this same life-saving capability to the area. This will be to replace the current CodeRed system. Hyper-Reach is a state of the art mass emergency notification system designed specifically for public safety. The county expects to have the service fully operational by the end of September.

Georgia’s net tax collections for June totaled $1.98 billion, for an increase of $20.5 million, or 1 percent, compared to last year when net tax collections totaled nearly $1.96 billion. Year-to-date, net tax collections totaled roughly $22.71 billion, for an increase of $961.3 million, or 4.4 percent, compared to June 2017, when net tax revenues totaled almost $21.75 billion.
