Changes are being made to update the Salem Gate Shopping Center to improve the appearance of the area.

The site, visible from I-20, is the gateway to the county. Rockdale officials say the longstanding shopping center has been in need of renovations and is easily identifiable for the county. County, city and civic leaders have come together with partners to renovate the area, attract new industry and bring more jobs.

“The level of talent and teamwork displayed by Rockdale County leaders is second to none,” Chairman Oz, Nesbitt, Sr. said of the efforts made by Rockdale County Staff. Chief of Staff Corey Hambrick and Director of Transportation Brian Allen have championed the agreement between Rockdale County, City of Conyers, Rockdale County Public School System and Tri-Land Development. Finally a community eyesore will be replaced with a state-of-the-art welcome mat development that clearly points in the new direction Rockdale County is moving towards.”
