A robbery suspect in Gwinnett County who attempted an early morning Black Friday heist didn’t have the best luck when trying to rob a T-Mobile store.

According to police, not only did the suspect cut his hand while smashing through the glass entrance, leaving behind some of his blood, he also only managed to escape with an empty box. He also managed to stare straight into one of the store’s surveillance cameras.

Police say a man broke into the T-Mobile store on Grayson Highway at about 3:45 a.m. Nov. 23.

The surveillance camera footage shows the suspect trying to take a display phone immediately upon entering the business, but fails to do so. Then the suspect is seen trying to open a safe, but is also unsuccessful.

Surveillance footage then shows the man taking a box from the store, removing the burglar bar from the rear door, and then exiting through the back door. According to the store’s owner, the box the suspect took was an empty box.

Gwinnett County Police Officers arrived on scene and cleared the business for suspects. Upon clearing, the officers located blood in the main sales floor and also the back door area. The blood on scene was collected by the Crime Scene Investigators as evidence and is waiting for results from the lab.

Police say the suspect is a black male between the ages of 18 and 25 years old.
