Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter has decided to spend his remaining time at home with his family and receive hospice care after a series of short hospital stays.
Carter’s decision to forego additional medical intervention was announced by The Carter Center in a statement released today.
The statement also noted that the former president has the full support of his family and medical team.
The 98-year-old Carter, who served as the 39th president of the United States from 1977 to 1981, has faced a number of health challenges in recent years.
