Just one day after the Gwinnett County Police Department said it was monitoring threats by students against schools, another Gwinnett County official says he is closely monitoring what appear to be threats against the school board by parents.

The Gwinnett County Solicitor’s Office is aware of threatening social media posts directed towards the Gwinnett County Board of Education.

“Under no circumstances will this behavior be tolerated in Gwinnett County,” said Gwinnett County Solicitor Brian Whiteside.

Any individuals who threaten or endanger the lives of anyone, if convicted, will receive a recommended sentence of up to 12 months confinement and/or a $1,000 fine per conviction pursuant to state laws regarding harassing communications, terroristic threats and stalking. State and Recorder’s Court Judges maintain and enact all sentences.

“More serious offenses could be referred to the District Attorney for prosecution,” Whiteside said. “All threatening social media posts directed towards the Gwinnett County Board of Education are being investigated.”

Whiteside also released a screenshot of the threats against school board members. You can view the threat below.

The Gwinnett County Solicitor’s Office represents all the citizens of Gwinnett County regardless of their political party affiliation, sexual orientation, gender, race, color, or creed.

“Individuals who would endanger the public with a reckless disregard for the safety of others will be prosecuted to the highest extent of the law,” Whiteside said.
