A nurse at Doctors Hospital in Augusta was assaulted on Nov. 11, leaving him unconscious after being struck in the face. The alleged attacker, Trey Jones, is now in custody, facing charges of battery and drug possession.
Authorities say Jones punched the nurse, causing him to black out, before deputies discovered amphetamines in the suspect’s bag.
Doctors Hospital condemned the violence, stating they have “no tolerance” for such actions and are fully cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation.
This is the latest in a rising number of attacks on medical professionals throughout Georgia ant nationally.
