Georgia Sen. David Perdue will be quarantining after being informed he was exposed to someone who tested positive for coronavirus recently.

Perdue’s campaign released a statement Thursday about the exposure and said the senator had been in close contact with someone on the campaign who tested positive for COVID-19.

Both Perdue and his wife tested negative for COVID-19, but will continue to follow CDC guidelines by quarantining.

The announcement comes with less than a week until the Jan. 5 runoff election where Perdue is locked in a tight race with Democrat John Ossoff.
