Rain and thunderstorms today will give way to snow flurries as the afternoon turns to evening Christmas Eve.

Residents in north and central Georgia can expect snow flurries as the day ends and temperatures drop, but for most Georgians, the flurries will be fast and will not cause any accumulation.

Those living in mountain elevations in north Georgia may see some accumulation and may have a snow on the ground Christmas Day.

For everyone else, the snow won’t stick around, but there is a high chance of black ice on the roads Christmas Day. While the storm system is not expected to blanket Georgia with snow, high winds and tornados may be possible.
