Explosion at Woodstock retirement home caused by construction accident

Fire and rescue crews are on the scene at a retirement home in Woodstock after an explosion in the basement caused a partial building collapse.

According to fire and police officials, at least one person has been taken to the hospital to check for injuries.

The explosion occurred at The Holbrook, a retirement community on Highway 92 in Woodstock that is still under construction. Construction company officials say the explosion was a construction accident caused by purging gas lines.

According to a spokesperson for the Holbrook, the building is still under construction and did not have any residents yet.
