Marietta Police nab five suspects in a homicide victim’s stolen car

MARIETTA -- License plate readers in Marietta picked up a stolen car Monday morning. The car was stolen in DeKalb County and police say the car's owner was killed during the theft at Wade Walker Park.

MARIETTA — License plate readers in Marietta picked up a stolen car Monday morning. The car was stolen in DeKalb County and police say the car’s owner was killed during the theft at Wade Walker Park.

The same vehicle, a 2011 silver Hyundai Santa Fe was involved in two other incidents after being stolen.

At 6:09 a.m. Monday, Marietta Officers received an alert that the suspect vehicle had passed license plate readers in the area of Northwest Parkway and Franklin Gateway.

Officers began searching the area and at 6:24 a.m. and located it on I-75 South near Windy Hill.

Police conducted a felony traffic stop and all five of the occupants were detained without incident.
