A 20-year-old Savannah man was shot and killed last night at about 7:30 p.m. on Emerald Drive in Savannah. Police are searching for clues to help identify his killer.

A 20-year-old Savannah man was shot and killed last night at about 7:30 p.m. on Emerald Drive in Savannah. Police are searching for clues to help identify his killer.

According to the Savannah Police Department, officers responded to Emerald Drive after receiving a ShotSpotter notification. Once officers arrived on scene, they found 20-year-old Roderick Matthews with a gunshot wound.

Medical personnel responded to the scene to render aid, but he but Matthews died from his injuries.

Detectives in the case say they do not believe this is a random shooting and are following up on leads in regards to this incident. Anyone with information can contact detectives at (912) 525-3124 or CrimeStoppers at (912) 234-2020.
