The Gwinnett County Police Department has released messages regarding two recent threats to public schools in Gwinnett County and says it is remaining vigilant in investigating all cases of harassment, intimidation and threats of violence against schools in the county.

The police department is working with the Gwinnett County School Police to respond and investigate each case.

“Though many of these threats are anonymous and turn out to be hoaxes, we will take every threat seriously. Threats and crimes committed upon school grounds against students or school personnel are enforced with more substantial penalties and include incarceration time,” police spokesperson Hideshi Valle said.

The police department posted screenshots of the threats to social media. The screenshots show a threat made against Mill Creek High School that appears to be from last week, and a threat made against Collins Hill High School for Oct. 27. You can view them below.

The Gwinnett Police Department’s Intelligence and Crime Analysis Units identify threats and rate their credibility. The department is passing all information on to the Gwinnett School Police for follow-up and augmenting their workforce with additional patrols as requested. Threats can be reported to the Gwinnett Police Department, the Gwinnett County School Police, or the FBI.

The police department is urging parents and students to report any threats of violence they are aware of.

Threats of violence against schools, officials, and workers in public schools can be reported to the FBI’s National Threat Operations Center (NTOC) at (1-800-CALL-FBI) or online through the FBI website (https://fbi/gov./tips)To ensure that threats are communicated to the appropriate authorities, NTOC will direct credible threats to FBI field offices, for coordination with the U.S. Attorney’s Office and law enforcement partners as appropriate.

In addition, reporting threats of violence through NTOC will help the federal government identify increased threats in specific jurisdictions and widespread coordinated efforts to intimidate educators and education workers.

If you know someone making threats, please immediately contact the Gwinnett Police Department by dialing 911.

Witnesses are encouraged to call GCPD Investigators or Atlanta Crime Stoppers with any helpful information. If anyone has any information to share regarding any case, please contact GCPD detectives at 770-513-5300. To remain anonymous, tipsters should contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or visit www.stopcrimeATL.com.

Crime Stoppers tipsters can receive a cash reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
