ATLANTA — Atlanta police thwarted a bank robbery last month without incident. A man handed an Atlanta bank employee a note demanding $25,000, according to police. No one was hurt.
What happened: The robbery was reported at about 10:09 a.m. Aug. 25 at the Wells Fargo bank at 2204 Peachtree Road NW. Atlanta police said officers arrived while the robbery was still underway and surrounded the building.
Police said the man left the bank about five minutes after officers arrived. Officers arrested him outside.
The arrest: Police identified the man as Kevin Simons. They charged him with robbery and took him to the Fulton County Jail.
Police said Simons also had an outstanding federal warrant through the U.S. Marshals Service.
Case status: The robbery charge and the federal warrant are separate matters.
