Morningbirds The Brunch Place in Roswell received a score of 67 and a U grade during a routine health inspection Wednesday.
What inspectors found: Cold foods in a walk-in cooler measured 44 to 45 degrees, above the 41-degree limit. The inspector also found fruit flies near the bar, mold-like buildup in the ice machine and soda nozzles, and food and grime on a waffle maker and oven.
Food thrown away: Workers discarded boxes of berries with a mold-like substance. Cooked pasta, cheese sauce, collard greens and shredded cheese also were thrown away because they did not have use-by dates.
Other problems: The restaurant did not have strips to test sanitizer levels. Inspectors also found wet utensils stacked together and uncovered serving plates. Workers removed the utensils for cleaning and turned the plates upside down during the inspection.
Correction deadlines: The report gave the restaurant until Thursday to get sanitizer test strips and until Friday to clean the equipment. The cooler temperatures and fruit fly problem were to be fixed by Monday.
By the numbers: The restaurant’s two previous inspection scores were 91 and 96, both A grades. Morningbirds is at 10930 Crabapple Road, Suites 21 and 23.
