The shooting occurred on March 15, 2023, in the 100 block of Bar J Road in Temple after the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to a dispute between neighbors.

What We Know: According to the GBI, preliminary information from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office indicates that one neighbor was pointing a gun at another neighbor and had fired the gun during the dispute.

When the deputies arrived on the scene, they encountered Robert Bruce Clendenin, who they report was armed with a gun. Deputies say they attempted to convince Clendenin to put down his weapon, but he refused to comply.

According to the GBI, Clendenin pointed his gun at the deputies, and one deputy shot and hit him.

Once the investigation is complete, the case file will be given to the Coweta Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
