ROSWELL — Two teenagers have been charged in connection with a shooting at a home in the Wexford Subdivision, according to the Roswell Police Department.
Roswell police officers responded to a call of a person shot at a home located in the 500 block of Wexford Hollow Run at about 5 p.m. on March 3. Upon arrival, officers found a 17-year-old boy who had been shot in the face.
The victim was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, but he was conscious and alert.
After conducting an investigation, detectives discovered that the victim was in the basement of the home with two friends, a 15-year-old boy, and a 17-year-old boy.
According to police, the 15-year-old was in possession of a handgun, which he pointed at the victim and fired, hitting him in the face. Investigators believe that the shooting was the result of the negligent misuse of a firearm among young people.
Following the shooting, police say the 15-year-old gave the handgun to the 17-year-old who then fled the scene and hid the firearm from investigators.
The 15-year-old shooter, who is not being identified due to his age, was arrested and taken to the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center. He has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes, tampering with evidence, obstruction, and possession of marijuana less than an ounce.
The 17-year-old suspect who police say hid the firearm was arrested and taken to the Fulton County Jail and charged with tampering with evidence.
