Residents of Cherokee County are being celebrated in a new initiative that launched Friday, Sept. 6. The “Love Where You Live” project, unveiled on the county’s YouTube channel, Facebook page, and Instagram account, aims to share the personal stories of community members and highlight the spirit of giving back.

The Details: The initiative focuses on residents’ deep connections to Cherokee County, featuring stories that reflect what makes the area special to those who call it home.

Videos highlighting individual stories will be released bi-weekly on the first and third Fridays of each month through Nov. 15. Starting in December, new videos will be published monthly.

Giving Back to the Community: A significant part of the initiative includes a focus on giving back. T-shirts featuring the “Love Where You Live” logo, designed by Waleska resident Amanda Brown, will be sold at local events such as the Great Pumpkin Festival on Oct. 12. Proceeds from the sales will go to local nonprofits. Residents are encouraged to wear the shirts on “Love Where You Live Fridays” and share photos on social media using the hashtag #lwylcherokeega.

Featured Residents: The first six videos will spotlight individuals like Jamie Foreman of Menagerie on Main, Millie Hughes with Never Alone Community Food Pantry, and Greg Shaddix of MadLife Stage and Studios. Each story highlights the personal connections and contributions these residents make to the community.

What’s Next? A webpage with additional details will go live on Oct. 1, allowing residents to nominate others to be featured. To follow along with the project and learn more, residents can visit the county’s social media channels or website, CherokeeCountyGA.Gov.
