Drivers in Columbia County have a new traffic signal to watch for at the intersection of Blackstone Camp Road/Colony Drive and Furys Ferry Road.

What’s happening: The signal went live at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 5. It includes standard red, yellow, and green light cycles, pedestrian crossing signals, and sensors that detect vehicles waiting at the intersection.

What’s new: Before August 5, the intersection did not have a traffic signal. It is now fully operational. Residents are calling the change “long overdue.”

What this means for you: Drivers using that intersection should slow down and pay close attention while the area settles into normal traffic patterns. The intersection was still under active construction when the signal went live, with cones, barrels, and fresh asphalt visible at the site.
