New details have emerged about the fatal crash that claimed the life of 72-year-old Julie Waters Lamb of Dawsonville on September 8. In addition to Lamb’s death, two dogs that were in her vehicle at the time of the collision were also found dead at the scene.

The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Ga. 400 and Jot ‘Em Down Road in Forsyth County. According to the initial investigation by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Lamb’s vehicle, a blue 2014 Toyota Rav4, was struck by a black 2019 Ford F-150 driven by a 30-year-old Dahlonega man. The man, identified as Logan Moye, is alleged to have run a red light while traveling northbound on Ga. 400, causing the fatal collision.

The Details:

Authorities say Lamb was crossing the highway and had the right of way. She was following the signal to continue west on Jot ‘Em Down Road when Moye, who was reportedly driving at a high speed, struck her vehicle. Lamb was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tragically, the two dogs that were in Lamb’s vehicle also did not survive the crash. Moye, the driver of the other vehicle, has since been arrested and is facing a slew of charges related to the incident.

Charges:

Moye has been charged with:

  • Homicide by vehicle, first degree
  • Driving under the influence of drugs
  • Possession of a controlled substance (Schedule II)
  • Reckless driving
  • Two counts of cruelty to animals
  • Failure to obey a traffic control device
  • Failure to use seat belts

He is currently being held at the Forsyth County Jail without bond.

What’s Next?:

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the crash. Given the seriousness of the charges, Moye will likely face significant legal proceedings in the coming months.
